MoKa House
In 2006 I entered into a business partnership with another writer who had goals that were similar to mine but a work history and skills set which differed from mine. We formed MoKa House, a media company specializing in providing freelance writing services to both individuals and businesses. Together we oversaw a staff of more than 40 independently contracted writers who met the needs of a wide range of clients. My role was to oversee all staff working on projects related to technology, music writing (including full PR services), web content writing and blog writing. My business partner was in charge of other areas of the business such as any legal writing that needed to be done. MoKa House was happy to help launch and develop the careers of a number of different writers while offering much-needed writing services to many different businesses. Unfortunately, at the end of 2007, MoKa House dissolved due to a desire on the part of both partners to take their own work in a different direction. However, it was a great experience during which I was able to really hone my own editing skills and my ability to oversee the work of a large team.
