Inspired! - Aptera Hybrid
Posted by kathrynv at 6:00 am in green, inspiration

I’m currently infatuated with the design of a new hybrid / plug-in electric vehicle that is being made this year by a new car company called Aptera. The vehicle is a three-wheel car that gets the equivalent of 300 mpg and has other neat eco-friendly features such as a heating and cooling system that’s powered by solar panel energy. It’s a fully-functional car able to handle highway speeds and is available for pre-order by California residents at the current time.

Here are a few of the reasons that I find this car to be inspiring:

  • It’s eco-friendly. I’m a big fan of the green movement (and strongly believe that writers should practice green habits; learn more here). Anything that moves this forward is inspiring to me.
  • The design is truly unique. It’s not something that you can see anywhere else. That kind of vision is always inspirational. More than that, it’s got a forward-thinking style that makes it look like a space vehicle. That makes me want to create a character who will want to ride in that car. It gets those wheels of creative writing spinning.
  • It’s neither here nor there. It’s a three-wheel car that’s classified as a motorcycle but functions like a car. That kind of ambiguity leaves room for inspiration. It makes me wonder what else lies in its in-betweens.

Question of the Day: Do you believe that a car can be a source of inspiration for a writer?

Inspired! - Aptera Hybrid has 13 Comments

  1. This is one iconic creation.
Looks like something nature would create for the sheer efficiency of motion.
It’s the anti-hummer, watery, photonic with a small “foot-print” (three vs. four).
Possibly too femmy, maybe a toothy grin and a grey-over-white shark paint job will collar the testosterone producers. Speaking of which, there’s that imagery also (right from God’s testies!).

    Good luck with the inspiration.
    I yield.

  2. This will be the car of the future, mark my words. APtera is a brand name that will be hear to stay. Check out

I liked it enough to put my $500 deposit down. Like the CEO I had a Ford Pickup and need better mpg. I purchased and went engine to tail pipe through a Geo Metro making it a high mpg commuter car. It can beat 60 mpg with the wind behind me! I have ridden motorcycles and are they safe? The Aptera is safer!

I drove 5300 miles last month working in property management and I don’t drive my Geo for its good looks! My 3 cylinder has less performance than an Aptera or any other car on the road, but as a matter of economy the Geo made sense.

Depending on your circumstance, the benefits may out weigh the cost and other factors. If you merely want to be in line and control your future option, that cost $500. Its non binding and 100% refundable. Interest on $500. at 2% is a wopping $10. and in committing to such, you are supporting consumer and investor confidence, what better way can you spend or lose $10.00?

Then who knows, you may actually buy one! I had the choice to go on paying high prices at the pump or to invest in a Geo, waiting for an Aptera or ? Most will moan and complain doing nothing, the Geo to get a new engine and trans, put me out $6,000. with the original ebay purchase. We can change our world or talk about it, I prefer the first!
