I’m happy to say that I’ve decided to start bringing a list of freelance writing and blogging jobs to this website. I debated about this for awhile because I do think that there are already some great sites out there (such as FWJ) which compile links to available jobs. However, I also think that there are some things that are lacking on those sites. My aim is to provide more of what’s missing from the freelance writing sites that already exist to make the freelance writing jobs search a little bit easier.
What you can expect to differ on this site as compared to other freelance writing sites:
- Organization. The other sites that I’ve seen either specialize in writing jobs, focus on blogging jobs or mix them all together. This site will lay out the jobs in a more organized fashion so that you can easily find the type of jobs that you’re looking for. You can see a sample with the first few links below.
- Weekend posts. My work week runs from Thursday through Monday which means that I’m available on the weekends to post the jobs that come up. Although some places do post job links on the weekends, it’s not as common as during-the-week jobs so I hope that this will fill a niche that people are seeking. Since many writers are nights-and-weekends writers, I think that it will. That said, this blog may disappoint people looking for jobs on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I do believe it’s important to take days off as a freelancer and those are the ones that I’m not in the office. In the future, this may change, but for now the jobs are going to be a Thursday - Monday thing just like my schedule.
- Timing. I will say that this is a west coast blog and it isn’t going to be posted first thing in the morning. I think that’s okay. Plenty of other sites post the early stuff. Because this blog is going up slightly later in the day, it may include posts on sites like Craigslist that sites working during the East Coast morning didn’t pick up that day.
- Telecommuting only. My intention is to only provide links to jobs that you can do from your own home.
This isn’t intended to be the be-all-and-end-all source for freelance writing jobs. However, it does aim to be a new and helpful resource for people who are seeking out links to freelance jobs. I’ll be going more full-fledged with this part of the site in the coming week or two but here are a few of today’s jobs to give you an idea of what the lists will look like:
