Crochet Article in By Hand Magazine

I am happy to share that I have an article published in the first issue of By Hand Magazine, a lovely new magazine all about the handmade way of life.

By Hand Magazine

When I first heard about the upcoming By Hand Magazine on the Juniper Moon Farm blog I knew it was something I wanted to support. This is a print magazine, also available in digital format, celebrating all aspects of the handmade way of life. It’s all about how through our continued commitment to creativity we build self-reliance, self-confidence and stronger communities.

A Kickstarter Contribution

The makers of By Hand needed money to get that first issue off the ground and they were using Kickstarter to help crowdsource that funding so I kicked in a little bit of money, figuring I’d forget about it until the magazine showed up in my mailbox one day. I was happy to show my support, was glad to see their full funding came through quickly and looked forward to the magazine.

The Article

As I was starting to spread the word about my new book, Crochet Saved My Life, I got in touch with the folks behind this magazine and was invited to submit an article for consideration for the first issue. I share my story about crafting to heal from depression and some of the salient points about why crochet has so many benefits for all of us. I feel really honored that my article about the book and its lessons is in the debut issue of this powerful new magazine!

The Rest of The Magazine

The first issue of the magazine, available online here, features many other goodies. The section on stitching has two matching knit patterns, a sewing project and an applique project. There is a section on growing your own food with a fun article about strawberries, a section on cooking with many recipes that look yummy and an article on some DIY building. I’m proud of the new magazine and proud to be a part of it.
